OC Weekly Hot Spot
Live Play Orange County’s Hot Spot of the week is Rancho Las Lomas. It is located in the canyons of South Orange County, off Santiago Canyon Road. We had my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding there in November. It is one of the most amazing, beautiful locations in Orange County, and it is not just for weddings. The grounds are impeccably maintained. And there are different ‘areas’ to explore. It is a private estate, owned by the Lawrence family, and it has a rich history. Read more on their website, and also in a photo display located in one of the many buildings onsite.
There really is a small zoo, which is run by the Rancho Las Lomas Wildlife Foundation. They are a non-profit that supports conservation projects and educates everyone about animal care, behavior, ecosystems, endangerment, and the negative impact of keeping wild animals as pets. Rancho Las Lomas is the home to different animals who have injuries or other issues that prevents traditional zoos or other organizations from giving the animals homes.
Rancho Las Lomas has a white bengal tiger, servals, badgers, plains zebras, crows and peafowls, among other animals. The animals are scattered around the property in large cages. It is so much fun walking the grounds. You can make it an animal treasure hunt. Do this with your kids…they love it!
Wine and Beer and Entertainment
So, you might be familiar with renting Rancho Las Lomas for weddings, special events, and corporate functions. Do you know Rancho Las Lomas also holds weekend events for the public? They are mostly held at the Barn Bar, which serves excellent concoctions such as infused whisky, wines, and beers featuring Town Park Brew. RLL encourages you to bring a picnic and listen to the live music. Reservations are required in advance so contact them.
