New OC Hot Spot: Creative Outlet Performing Arts Center has voice and drama lessons too.
Local dance lessons for kids are offered by Donna Shepherd, the Owner of Creative Outlet Performing Arts Center. They also are happy to offer singing lessons as well as acting lessons, and they have a lot of fun creative ideas to teach children of all ages. Donna took Live Play Orange County on a tour. There are two studios in the performing arts center. One large one with a mirror wall that is visible through windows in the lobby, so family can watch their talented children. The smaller studio in the back, called “The Unicorn Room” is a more intimate setting for younger children, so they feel more comfortable.
fun classes for younger children
The two and three year old classes are really filling up quickly, so if you have little ones, got to get them in before we have to close registration. They have fairy wings that they play with and a little butterfly. According to Donna, Ballerinas and wings make you fly. “They help us do our little jumps in front of the mirrors. The kids absolutely love the mirrors. If you think your child is shy, I guarantees you give him one class in this studio, and they see the reflection and the music’s going and they just absolutely fall in love with it.”
experienced teachers for all levels
Donna Shepherd said her passion is working with kids. She actually left performing in New York to follow that dream. She offers classes for two years old up to 18 years old. With an impressive background in musical theater and dance, and the other instructors with similar talents and backgrounds, the children will learn from the best. Every corner of the Center shows a love of performing and a love of children. The hallway is filled with actual Playbills collected from shows that Donna saw. It is really her history. Her first Broadway show ever was Rent, and she saw it on her first trip to New York city when she was 20 years old. Heading back to the airport from that show, she was crying. “ I don’t want to leave here. I want to live here. And it took me 15 years, but I got there. So don’t give up on your dreams. You can do it.”
Donna is eager to share her love and knowledge with other children so they can accomplish their dreams.
